It’s time to hit the links with the Relief Fund and “Putt Out Cancer”. Join us on May 6th as the Relief Fund will be hosting its 7th Annual Golf Tournament. This annual outing assists in raising the necessary funds to continue the mission of the Relief Fund and to fund our cancer screening initiative, member assistance program, and scholarship program! The Boston Firefighters 10K Road Race is an annual event that brings together participants from all walks of life to celebrate fitness, camaraderie, and support for the brave men and women of the Boston Fire Department. Held against the backdrop of the historic city, this race offers a scenic and challenging course that winds through Dorchester. We are partnering with the Safety Health and Wellness Division of the Boston Fire Department and the Last Call Foundation to subsidize the cost of cancer and cardiac screening tests for members of the BFD. The Boston Fire Department is the oldest fire department in our country’s history. Founded in 1678, Boston was the first town in the thirteen colonies to establish a paid work force, Fire Wards held the responsibility of the oversight to their respective sections of the city. Well over three centuries later, the Boston Fire Department stands strong with members that have served their city and fellow citizens with distinction and often at great personal sacrifice.
