While cancer and heart disease continue to be leading causes of on-duty firefighter deaths and long-term disabilities, many Boston firefighters are currently facing serious cancer diagnoses and ongoing treatment. Firefighters are more than twice as likely to develop cancer compared to civilians, and in Boston, 67% of firefighters will face a cancer diagnosis during their lifetime.

The annual event brings together participants from all walks of life to celebrate fitness, camaraderie, and support for the brave men and women of the Boston Fire Department. Held against the backdrop of the historic city, this race offers a scenic and challenging course that winds through Dorchester.
